Review from November 2025
Finding long-term accommodations in Cozumel can be challenging, especially if you’re planning to stay longer than a typical vacation. During my 30-day stay on the island from November to December 2025, I stayed at Villas Mar Turquesa, a condo-style property located in the middle of the island. While it made an extended stay possible, it came with both strengths and compromises worth noting.
Affordability for a Long Stay
Compared to many hotels in Cozumel, Villas Mar Turquesa was one of the more affordable long-term options I found. At approximately $1,800 USD for the month, it allowed me to stay on the island when many beachfront hotels were priced far beyond my budget.
Comfortable, Livable Space
The condo was clean, comfortable, and functional for daily living. It offered enough space to feel settled rather than cramped, which is important during a month-long stay.
Kitchen Essentials
The kitchen was small but thoughtfully equipped with everything needed to cook meals at home—including a lemon squeezer. For long-term travelers or divers who don’t want to eat out every night, this was a big plus.
Bed & Linens
The bed itself was firm, which may not suit everyone, but the linens were clean and smelled fresh. That small detail went a long way toward comfort during an extended stay.
Kind and Attentive Staff
The staff was consistently kind and attentive. Housekeeping was especially accommodating—maids cleaned the room whenever I requested extra service, which made living there for a month much more comfortable.
Beautiful Pool and Landscaping
The pool area is especially beautiful at night and feels peaceful and relaxing. The landscaping around the property is well maintained and pleasant, contributing to a calm atmosphere away from the busier parts of the island.
Pet-Friendly Property
One of the biggest reasons I would return is that Villas Mar Turquesa allows dogs. For travelers with pets, this is a huge advantage and not always easy to find in Cozumel. Even with the longer drive to the marina, this alone makes it a strong option for me.
Location and Distance
The biggest downside is the location. Villas Mar Turquesa is situated in the middle of the island, far from downtown, the waterfront, restaurants, and dive shops. A car is essentially required, and the drive to the marina—especially for early dive mornings—can feel long.
Not Walkable
This is not a walkable area. If you enjoy stepping outside to grab coffee, dinner, or stroll along the ocean, this location may feel isolating.
Very Small Bathroom
The bathroom was extremely small, with virtually no counter space. There wasn’t even room to set down a toothbrush, which became inconvenient during a longer stay.
Couch / Futon Sleeping Option
The couch or futon-style sleeping option was uncomfortable. While it includes a trundle pull-out, the mattress was worn out and sagged, making it unsuitable for regular sleeping. This is something to consider if more than one person plans to stay.
Less of a “Vacation” Feel
While practical, Villas Mar Turquesa doesn’t have the charm or atmosphere of a beachfront hotel. It feels more residential than vacation-oriented, which may or may not suit your travel style.
Villas Mar Turquesa is a practical, budget-conscious choice for long-term stays in Cozumel—especially for independent travelers, divers, or those traveling with pets. The kind staff, peaceful grounds, and functional living space make it comfortable, but the location and lack of walkability are real trade-offs.
For me, it worked because it allowed a full month on the island. And despite the long drive to the marina, the pet-friendly policy alone makes it a place I would seriously consider staying at again.
Sometimes travel is about compromise—and Villas Mar Turquesa delivers exactly that.
