Why I Love Cozumel

An Island of Friendship, Easy Living, and Unforgettable Diving

Cozumel isn’t just a destination to me — it’s a feeling.

I love the people and the vibe of the island. Life moves a little slower here. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and easy to settle into. From the moment you arrive, Cozumel feels less like a vacation and more like coming home.

A huge part of that feeling comes from Sharky’s Scuba Cozumel. David and the whole gang welcomed me from day one, and I immediately felt a connection. They aren’t just dive operators — they’re friends. The kind of people you want to spend time with both underwater and above it.

They’re fun to hang out with, and just as fun to dive with. Every dive feels personal, relaxed, and full of laughter.

And then there’s everything else that makes island life special — amazing food, warm ocean breezes, colorful streets, and a lifestyle that reminds you to slow down and enjoy where you are.

Good diving. Good people. Good living.

That’s why I love Cozumel.

Sharky's Scuba Cozumel

Sharky’s Scuba Cozumel is my go-to dive shop on the island. There are lots of great shops and fabulous places to dive in Cozumel, but I’ve been diving with Sharky’s for the last 6–7 years, and they feel like my people. I love my guys—David with his playful side, Walter with his steady, stoic attitude, Roman who’s always saying “too much blah blah blah, more diving, get off my boat,” and Victor, the captain, who never fails to give me his jacket and a hug.

It’s more than just diving—it’s diving with family.

More Than Diving

Kuza

Kuza Beach & Adventure Park in Cozumel is one of those places that packs a lot of fun into one stop. Between ziplining through the jungle, bouncing along rugged trails on buggy rides, cooling off at the waterpark, and relaxing at the beach club, it feels like a full-day adventure designed for families and thrill seekers alike. The park is clean, colorful, and easy to enjoy even if you only have a cruise stop or limited time on the island. The downside is that convenience comes at a price — entrance fees, activity packages, photos, food, and transportation can add up quickly. You’re essentially paying for an all-in-one experience rather than exploring Cozumel independently, but for visitors wanting excitement, variety, and zero planning, Kuza delivers a memorable (if slightly expensive) day of island fun.

Sorrisi Trattoria e Pizzeria is one of the top spots for Cozumel dining, serving delicious Italian food in Cozumel with a homemade touch. From fresh pasta to house-made croutons, every dish feels thoughtfully prepared. It’s one of my favorite places to eat on the island and a must-visit when I’m craving authentic Italian flavors.  Try the Risotto!

Del Sur Parrilla Argentina

Authentic Argentinian cuisine in Cozumel that absolutely delivers. The food is incredibly delicious with generous portion sizes—my friend and I ordered the meal for two, and it was enough to easily feed several more people. The meat was perfectly tender and oh-so-savory, and the sausage was hands down my favorite… seriously yummy. A must-visit if you love great meat and hearty, satisfying plates.

La Palapa

La Palapa is a local breakfast spot with good food that leans into local flavors. One of my favorites is the pancakes with Nutella spread. You can tell this isn’t frozen food thrown in a microwave—everything tastes fresh and made with care. Lately, the prices have been great, and they don’t overcharge, which is refreshing in a tourist area.
