ABOUT HURACAN DIVING LODGE, LIGHTHOUSE REEF ATOLL AND THE BLUE HOLE
Our location with unparalleled access to Belize’s most famous scuba diving sites located just minutes from Huracan Diving Lodge private eco island paradise Long Caye, offering scuba divers and snorkelers exclusive first access into the Belize Barrier Reef underwater world. Lighthouse Reef Atoll is the most remote of the three offshore atolls in Belize and is still the most pristine with less than a handful of businesses geared towards scuba diving visitors.
Sponge, fan and coral formations on the dramatic walls begin at a shallow 35 feet, and Long Caye is the perfect base to discover them being the only inhabited Caye of the six making up the Atoll landmasses.
From the very northernmost end of the Atoll, Sandbore Caye is one of the two cayes boasting lighthouses, the one at Sandbore having been established in 1904. Northern Caye neighbors Sandbore and the two are known locally as Northern Two Cayes.
Guests at Huracan Diving Lodge have the luxury of being guaranteed the only divers in the Blue Hole and indeed on all other dives at Long Caye Wall and Half Moon Caye Wall.

Chef Shannon, also known as Mr. Happy Fingers has a strong passion for local products and produce.
Growing up on the lush mainland areas surrounded by fresh local produce he was inspired by his family’s passion for flavors and cooking. Chef Shannon takes great pleasure in showcasing his skills to our guests, and is renowned for his ever-changing range of island fusion cuisine. He surprises our guests with creative ways of using local produce, poultry and freshly-caught seafood as well as his own blend of spices, inventive desserts and expertly-crafted cocktails, all of which will make your surface intervals truly enjoyable!
Although our scuba diving sites are considered some of the best in the Caribbean, we suspect that many of our guests return for the food, as indicated by the polished plates at the end of each meal. Our guests always have access to a variety of herbal and black teas, as well as local Gallon Jug Coffee and fresh purified water. Additionally, a selection of fresh fruit, home-baked cookies, and breads are always available, while the dive boat cooler is stocked with a selection of sodas and snacks to keep you fueled up after your dives.
Transfer and meeting info:
The boat departure from Belize City to the island is scheduled between 2.30pm - 3pm, depending on timely arrival of other guests from the airport or hotels. In case of significant delays, the latest our boat can wait is 4.30pm due to fading daylight and transfer time.
• Please meet our team at the “RAMADA PRINCESS HOTEL & MARINA” by 2.30pm. The marina is located directly in the hotel’s backyard.
• Our boat’s name is KUHA.
• When departing from the island back to the mainland, our boat leaves between 7.30am to 8.00am.
• The estimated arrival time in Belize City upon return is between 9.30am and 10am.
• The boat transfer time takes about one and a half to two hours.
• Please note that boat transfers can be wet and bumpy at times, depending on ocean and weather conditions.
***The boat is able to depart the marina as early as 1.30pm, if everyone is able to be there by then.
The marina we depart from is the Ramada Hotel, however not very mice to stay at overnight.
We suggest the Fort George Hotel & Spa (formerly the Radisson), or The Golden Bay Hotel.
Both are within 5 minutes of the Ramada Hotel where the marina is.
